Frederick Vidal lives and works in Berlin. His photographic practice moves between observation, research and open-ended narrative. He is interested less in what something is than in how it appears within the image. Everyday situations give rise to photographs that shift meaning and suggest connections without ever fixing them.

OHG is an abbreviation I came across in the Berlin State Archives: «Ort hoher Geheimhaltung»("place of high secrecy"). For me, the term captures something of the essential character of these works, which is why it naturally became the title. I am interested less in what something is than in how it appears at the moment the photograph is taken: how objects, places and situations transform their meaning within the image. The photographs do not follow a predetermined narrative. Instead, they seek moments in which meaning shifts and certainty begins to fracture. The images attempt to suggest something without fully articulating it – situations, actions or connections that seem possible, yet never entirely reveal themselves.
The remaining works in this series will follow.

We do not believe in escaping the world, but in confronting it — through art. Art is what both disarms and unleashes the moment, what disrupts conversation and deepens it at the same time. In our space, where being encounters itself in its own gaze, we give artists the opportunity to show their work for one month at a time — not as mere objects, but as existential explorations that open up new perspectives. The vernissage always takes place on the first Wednesday of each month.

If you are ready to share your art in this moment of perception and encounter, don’t hesitate to contact us.
